| NBP Opens more Islamic Banking Branches in Punjab & NWFP. |

PESHAWAR: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Monday opened the first Islamic Banking branch in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) here at the Mall Road.
NBP Regional Chief Mohammed Hanif Khan, Islamic Banking Division Head Anwar Mehmood Meenai, NBP Regional Chief in Mardan Shahjehan, Senior Vice-President Mehmoodul Hassan, who is also operating the branch as branch manager and other staff members and people from the business community were also present.
Senior Vice-President Mehmoodul Hassan said the branch would work as "mother branch" of the NBP in the NWFP, which has also access to online broadband networking of the NBP across the world. Initially, the branch would operate with a staff of six members and the strength would be increased with the passage of time. NBP Regional Chief Mohammed Hanif Khan said, "It is an historic moment after launching the first Islamic banking branch in the NWFP, second in the country after Karachi."
The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has also opened its first Islamic banking branch in Punjab in the building of its regional head office here on Tuesday. NBP Director Abrar Mumtaz inaugurated the branch amidst NBP senior officials.
Talking to mediapersons, Anwar Minhae, head of the NBP Islamic banking department, said that it is with great pleasure that the bank has opened a branch on Islamic banking and it is planning to open more similar branches in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Sialkot in near future.
