Centre for Women Cooperative Development (CWCD) & the Social Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) at Lahore University of Management Sciences, entered into an agreement to become knowledge partners.
Dr Faheem ul Islam (Associate Professor Suleman Dawood School of Business) represented LUMS while Ms. Farida Tariq (Founder & Chief Executive of CWCD) represented her organization.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing took place on 23rd September 2010 & was attended by CWCD Board of Directors; Mr.Abbas Khan (Chairman, CWCD), Dr.Waseem Bano (Member), Dr. Zahid Hussain (Member), Mrs. Shireen ZafarUllah (Member), Dr. Nasreen Bokhari (Member), as well as LUMS-SEDC officials.
CWCD being the pioneer Islamic Microfinance organization of the country intends to converge into an Islamic Microfinance Bank in the near future. In its quest to devise best practices, methods and approaches of Islamic microfinance to effectively serve the needs of the micro entrepreneurs, CWCD thus requested SEDC-LUMS to become its knowledge partner so as to provide useful insights into transforming the organization to effectively deal with the existing and upcoming challenges.
