The Takaful (Islamic insurance) is gaining popularity not only in the Muslim world, but also in EU and America. These views were expressed by the experts while speaking at the concluding session of a two-day specialised workshop on 'Islamic Banking and Takaful', at Quetta on Sunday.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Al Huda Centre of Islamic Banking and Islamic Economics (CIBE) and the Takaful Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Takaful Pakistan CEO Captain Jamil Akhtar Khan (retd) said there are 85 Takaful companies operating in the world and their number is rising constantly.

He thanked the efforts by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for setting up a good regulatory environment for Takaful in Pakistan, which provides a complete range of general insurance facilities according to Shariah principles in Pakistan.
