Qatar Islamic Bank plans to invest in Pakistan

 

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) is interested to expand their banking operation by making investment in the banking sector of Pakistan. According to private TV channel QIB, the 4th largest ranked bank in Qatar, was keen to make investment in the baking sector in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

State Bank of Pakistan for the issuance of license allowing Islamic banking in Pakistan requires the minimum of $67 million investment, which would be enhanced to $100 million by 2009.

Pakistan since 2005 witnessed an unprecedented progress in the Islamic banking and the Islamic banking system was working in complete Sharia compliance. According to QIB report Pakistan GDP growth rate during the last three years recorded exceptional performance.
