CIS Islamic Finance Roadshow 2025

Overview: The CIS Islamic Finance Roadshow 2025 is a strategic initiative designed to explore and engage with the largely untapped Islamic finance potential across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region. This landmark roadshow aims to introduce innovative trends, navigate key challenges and highlight investment opportunities within the Islamic finance sector in the region.

Objective:

The primary goals of the roadshow are:
  • To support reforms in the banking and financial sectors across CIS countries.
  • To attract direct foreign investments through Shariah-compliant financial frameworks.
  • To evaluate existing regulatory and policy environments for the long-term sustainability of Islamic finance in the region.

Participating Countries:

The roadshow will span six key CIS countries:

Belarus
Positioned in Eastern Europe, Belarus marks the westernmost stop on the roadshow. While not traditionally associated with Islamic finance, its strategic location and openness to innovation make it an ideal launchpad for introducing the region to Shariah-compliant banking and cross-border financial collaboration.

Azerbaijan
East of Belarus and at the western shore of the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan combines a majority Muslim population with ambitions in sustainable infrastructure and regional trade, making it an emerging hub for integrating Islamic finance into its growing economic agenda.

Kazakhstan
Spanning Central Asia and partly Europe, Kazakhstan is the region’s economic powerhouse. Its advanced banking sector and focus on capital markets present a fertile environment for Islamic finance products, especially in large-scale investments and cross-border initiatives.

Uzbekistan
Located just south of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan serves as the launch country for the roadshow. With sweeping economic reforms and a significant Muslim majority, it offers an excellent setting to showcase practical applications of Islamic finance through industry site visits and regulatory dialogue.

Kyrgyzstan
South of Kazakhstan and east of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan brings mountainous terrain and fintech-forward thinking to the table. Building upon prior pilot Islamic banking efforts, the roadshow will help accelerate inclusive finance solutions and SME-focused Shariah-compliant instruments.

Tajikistan
Easternmost in the central Asian '–stan' countries, Tajikistan shares deep cultural ties to Islamic traditions. The visit will focus on aligning financial infrastructure and regulatory frameworks to support sustainable investment flows rooted in Shariah principles.

The journey begins in Belarus in September 2025 and will proceed across the remaining countries in a sequential format. The CIS Islamic Finance Roadshow 2025 serves as a dynamic platform to bridge this gap and unlock the region's full potential in Shariah-compliant finance.

The roadshow presents a unique platform to:
  • Foster dialogue between policymakers, regulators, investors and financial institutiromote knowledge-sharing on best practices and Shariah-compliant instruments.
  • Open doors to infrastructure development and cross-border financial collaboration.
  • A distinctive feature of the roadshow includes hands-on visits to key Islamic financial institutions, central banks and fintech hubs. These visits aim to provide participants with real-world exposure and practical insights into the operational models, product offerings and regulatory environments of the Islamic finance industry.
